I wrote ever so briefly in a previous post about the Baga massacre. Yesterday I read a hauntingly beautiful poem written by Olamide on her wonderful blog: Olamide’s Blog. Her words painted a vivid picture that leads one to reflection, followed by introspection. I cannot begin to fathom what it would be like to be in such a position, just trying to imagine it, unleashes a flood of emotions. Questions inevitably come up:

  • Who will care for the orphaned children?
  • Will they be reunited with their parents?
  • How can people do these things to other people?
  • How can we help?

Only God knows all the answers, and quite literally, He is the answer. God will care for the orphans. He was, He is, and He always will be their heavenly Father. People can do these things to one another due to sin. We can help by prayer, and in many other ways as well.

Some of us are standing up! I hope that awareness spreads, and people begin to open their eyes. Stand for what is right, all of the time, not only when it is convenient.
